Musicians
Tatcho Drom perform as a line-up of 2 to 5 musicians. On occasion they work with selected guest musicians and dancers.
Gundula Gruen, violin/vocals: Gundula is originally from Bavaria. After achieving degrees in classical violin and jazz, Gundula learned her first Gypsy music from German Gypsies. She is widely known as the ‘Magic Violin’ for her heart-moving performances and infectious energy. During her 15 years of musical travelling, she has worked with Masters such as Caliu (Taraf de Haidouks) and Tcha Limberger (Budapest Gypsy Orchestra).
Tom Wagner, percussion/vocals: Hailing from Washington, D.C., Tom holds degrees in percussion performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and Rutgers University. He brings his experiences as a classical percussionist, jazz and rock drummer to Tatcho Drom.
Jeremy Halliwell, guitar: A native of the U.K., Jeremy’s explorations of the music of Turkey, Greece, Serbia, Russia, and beyond have led to collaborations with, among others, ethno-fusion group Alejandro Toledo and the Magic Tombolinos and Mediterranean melodicists Delicatessen.
Martino Scovacricchi, alto sax: As a graduate of the Berklee college of Music in Boston, Costa Rican-Italian Martino joined Tatcho in 2010. Since then, his creative solos have added new dimensions to the band’s sonic pallet.
Živorad Nikolic, accordion: Born in Kragujevac, Serbia, Živorad studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Marseilles and with a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, and has received many national and international awards. Being a highly acclaimed classical accordionist from a very young age has never stopped Živorad from playing his native folk and Gypsy music. Presently he performs with the Balkan band Paprika and the tango quintet Fugata, whilst being a regular guest musician in Tatcho Drom.
